Since 2016, Sparky Steps has proudly served Chicago pets with heart and professionalism. As we grow, we’re building a network of trusted, independent Certified Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers who want to help serve our local community.

Sparky Steps partners with experienced pet professionals who value both independence and a safety net. As an Independent Contractor in our network, you’ll:

• Earn 80% of the service fee for every walk you complete solo.

• Access the "Reliability Buffer": If you have an emergency or need a day off, our 40/40 split system ensures a qualified partner covers your route so you don't lose the client, and you still earn for the relationship maintenance. (Subject to Terms and Conditions).

• Set your own availability while benefiting from Sparky Steps' high-volume routing.

• Use Professional Tools: Access DoTimely for GPS tracking, scheduling, and client transparency.

🛡️ Trained, Prepared, and Protected

To maintain the 80% payout tier and protect the Sparky Steps brand, all partners must provide:

• Signed Independent Contractor Agreement (ICA): Outlining our 80/20 and 40/40 split protocols.

• Non-Solicitation Agreement: Ensuring we grow together as a network rather than competing for the same clients.

• Completed W-9: For seamless 1099-NEC tax reporting.

• Pet Care Liability Insurance: Your professional "fence" that protects you and the pets.

The Most Competitive Pay in Chicago. We believe the people doing the work deserve the lion's share of the reward. That’s why our partners receive 80% of the client payment.

The Sparky Steps "Safety Net" Split: We know life happens. To ensure our pets never miss a walk and our partners never burn out, we utilize a collaborative pay structure for backups:

• Solo Success (80%): You perform the service. You earn the full 80% pool (which includes 40% for relationship management + 40% for service performance).

• Supported Service (40/40): If you are the Primary Walker but need a backup to step in, the 80% pool is split. The Backup Partner earns 40% for performing the labor, and You earn 40% for managing the client relationship and coordinating the hand-off. Our network ensures your clients stay YOUR clients, even when you need a break. (Subject to Terms and Conditions).

• Sparky Steps (20%): We retain a consistent 20% to keep the lights on, handle the marketing that finds your clients, and provide the software that runs your route.

Transparent Earnings Examples:

• 30-Minute Visit ($27 total): You earn $21.60.

  *Note: The 80% pool is always preserved for the partners.

• 15-Minute Visit ($22 total): You earn $17.60.

• Realistically, by building a strategic route in our focus neighborhoods, partners can complete 2–3 visits per hour.

⚖️ Terms & Conditions for Applicants

By submitting your information to Sparky Steps LLC, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

• Sparky Steps does not employ Certified Pet Sitters. All individuals in our network operate as independent contractors under their own business entities. You are free to maintain your own separate business, brand, and clients outside of the Sparky Steps network.

• Sparky Steps may, at its sole discretion, refer clients to independent professionals who meet our standards, and independent professionals may also refer clients to others in the network.

• Client referrals are not guaranteed, nor is Sparky Steps liable for the income, scheduling, or business performance of any contractor.

• Contractors are solely responsible for their taxes, insurance, legal compliance, and client relationships.
