We interviewed Kate Stella From Chicago, IL, USA with her pup Stella, A.K.A. @_stellathepit_ on Instagram!
Tell us about Stella!
“Stella is a half pittie, half rottie mix who is consistently called “the sweetest girl” by anyone who meets her! She loves to cuddle and has never met an antler she won’t chew.”
Who are you? What are you about!
“I’m Kate, a late 20-something who works in healthcare and is totally obsessed with my dog. Having Stella has opened my eyes to a whole new world of training (so thankful for our e-collar) and responsibility (having a dog — no matter their breed — comes with a responsibility to make sure they’re trained and good members of society), and it’s no doubt made me a better person.”
Where did you meet?
"Stella is from a high-kill shelter on the east side of Los Angeles. She was only four months old but super skinny and full of fleas, but her big black eyes were the cutest and she looked just like the kind of pup I’d been hoping to adopt!”
Tell us a story!
“One time Stella snatched the whole Christmas Day beef roast when no one was looking! She got it halfway down her throat before two people (and four full hands) managed to pry it back out of her mouth. She licked her lips and had absolutely zero regrets.”
What do you think it means to be a pet? What is a pet's purpose in this life?
“Ooh this is a tough one. I think a pet’s purpose is all their own — probably not something we fully understand. But no matter what their true purpose is, they do a very good job at providing companionship and teaching us about love, responsibility, and what to truly means to trust someone.”
How does your pup spark joy in your life?
“Stella sparks joy daily with her fierce loyalty and natural comfort, when she rests her head on top of me or lays across me as if she was a lap dog.”
What do you think are the most pressing issues that are in the pet industry today?
“People who don’t understand the responsibility that comes with owning a pet and fail to socialize them properly or train them or give up on them and dump them in a shelter due to their own lack of understanding.”
Do you think it's more important to talk about the issues or act on them?
"Talk”
