Tell us about Copper!
“Copper is a hyperactive, happy little man that loves going to the dog park, going for walkies, and getting a chicken nugget in the car”
Where did you meet?
Blackford County Animal Shelter. We were actually going to look at cats and I turned around to see him scared and shaking in a crate. The staff said he had been biting at people since he got back from being neutered. I told them I didn't care, they opened the gate and he jumped into my lap and covered me in kisses. I started crying because I knew he was mine. I had lost my dog of 18 years not too long before I met him and I just knew he was meant to find me.”
Tell us about yourself!
“I'm a graduate student studying Philanthropic Studies. My dream is to one day work for the ASPCA and help fund the amazing work they do for homeless animals.”
Tell us a story!
"We've only had Copper for a short time but I think what summarizes him best is the time he got out the back door, ran full speed around the entire apartment building three times, then just casually walked back into the door as I tried to catch him.”
What do you think it means to be a pet? What is a pet's purpose in this life?
" Every animal has a purpose, even if we don't understand it. My last dog was my service dog and I think with training and time Copper can learn to do the jobs Armani used to do.”
What do you think are the most pressing issues that are in the pet industry today?
"Puppy Mills”
Do you think it's more important to talk about the issues or act on them?
"Both”
