Tell us about Wrigley
"Wrigley is our shelter rescue of three months now. He was originally pulled from a high kill shelter in Texas to be brought up to Ohio. Since he’s “middle-aged” it was harder for him to be adopted but we think he’s perfect as is. He’s really come out of his shell, learned what toys are, and been spoiled with the best of the best. His favorite toys are rope toys despite the fact that he rips them up. He has never once destroyed any of our stuff and is a giant Velcro dog.”
Who are you? What are you about!
“I am a high school teacher and my fiancé is studying to be a doctor. Our goals in life are to help others and that extends to animals as well. Both of us grew up together and have been friends since we were 12. Wrigley is like our baby and we love him with all of our hearts.”
Where did you meet?
"We found him on Petfinder actually and just fell in love with his sweet face. Once we got approved to be adopters, we went to meet him and it was like he knew we were supposed to be his owners. He jumped up to greet us and wouldn’t leave our sides. We had to fill out paperwork to be processed and picked him up two days later. He clearly remembered us and has been a good loyal boy ever since.”
Tell us a story!
"There was one day that I got home from work and had the worst day. This was about a week after we adopted Wrigley. I was full-on sobbing and Wrigley came over and laid across my body and would not stop licking me until I stopped crying. This was when I knew how much he loved me too.”
What do you think it means to be a pet? What is a pet's purpose in this life?
“I believe pets are an extension of your family. Without a doubt, pets bring us joy but it’s our jobs to bring them joy as well.”
How does your pup spark joy in your life?
“Wrigley is a comfort to us, makes us happy, makes us laugh, and allows us to appreciate the small things in life.”
What do you think are the most pressing issues that are in the pet industry today?
"Puppy Mills”
Do you think it's more important to talk about the issues or act on them?
"Both”
