We interviewed Tonia Bonello from Sydney Australia with Ruby, A.K.A. @RubyBTheCavoodle on Instagram!
Tell us about Ruby!
"She is full of energy and life and makes us smile every single day. We could imagine life without her. She’s very smart and knows the rules of the house and has a cheeky look when she’s about to do something she knows she shouldn’t be doing. She loves to steal socks to get us to chase her and her game always ends under a bed where we can’t reach her. We adore her.“
Who are you? What are you about!
“Normal two children working busy family.”
Where did you meet?
"@RoseonaCavoodles”
Tell us a story!
"Ruby is the one that always makes us smile no matter what kind of day we have had. I initially did not want a pet as I thought the house wouldn’t be clean and we didn’t have enough time. My children took up pamphlet delivery work and started saving. My then 10-year-old wrote a persuasive essay to convince me we needed to get a dog. She involved her school teacher and class friends in a petition to convince me. She answered all of the concerns I had raised in her essay and said she would be responsible for her and would continue to do pamphlets to pay for her vet bills etc. I reluctantly put our name on a waitlist while they saved thinking they would give up before they reached their goal. They managed to save the money for a puppy and we were given our choice from the breeders next litter. Ruby was our favorite as she was dark red and cheeky. We met her at 8 weeks of age at the breeders' lovely farm and fell in love with her instantly. It wasn’t long before we were breaking all of the rules like her not being allowed on carpet or in our beds. It’s those sad eyes that get us every time! We treat her like one of the family and I’m sure she thinks she’s a human!”
What do you think it means to be a pet? What is a pet's purpose in this life?
“To bring us unconditional joy and love.”
How does Freya spark joy in your life?
“She knows how to read us and when to either play or cuddle. We lose count of the number of times a day we turn around to find her placing a ball at our feet to play.”
What do you think are the most pressing issues that are in the pet industry today?
"Humane Treatment of Animals”
Do you think it's more important to talk about the issues or act on them?
"Both”
Thank you for your response Ruby sounds awesome! We hope this will Spark someone to go out and make a difference in an animal’s life. We are so lucky to have doggies in our life.
