Dog Walking Services Andersonville Chicago
Andersonville's trusted neighborhood dog walkers
Looking for a reliable dog walker in Andersonville? Sparky Steps has cared for Chicago's pets since 2016, and Andersonville is one of our favorite places to walk: a tight-knit, walkable neighborhood of greystones, leafy side streets, and one of the best independent shopping strips in the city. We offer dog walking, cat sitting, and pet care from licensed, insured walkers who know these blocks by heart. We also serve neighboring Edgewater, Uptown, and Albany Park.
Where we walk in Andersonville
Andersonville is built for walking. Its heart is Clark Street, the self-styled Shop Local Capital of Chicago, where locally owned cafes, bakeries, and shops give every stroll a friendly, neighborly feel. We love the calm, tree-lined residential blocks just off Clark, especially the greystones and historic homes of the Lakewood-Balmoral Historic District, which make for relaxed, comfortable walks for dogs of every age.
The lakefront is only a short walk east, so we can swap city sidewalks for lake views at Foster Beach or the green space at Berger Park in Edgewater. The neighborhood's beaches are leashed, so when a pup wants real off-leash time, Montrose Dog Beach in Uptown is a quick trip south. With the Red Line a few blocks east at Berwyn and the Metra nearby in Ravenswood, plenty of Andersonville pet parents commute downtown and rely on us for a midday walk while they are at work.
- We know Clark Street and the quiet residential blocks firsthand
- Routes tailored for puppies, seniors, and shy or reactive dogs
- Fair pay and ethical care, so your walker is supported and reliable
- Trusted by families across Chicago's North Side

Our passion for Chicago pets
We are dedicated Chicago dog walkers who put safety, love, professionalism, and timeliness first. Sparky Steps was founded in 2016 with a dual mission: to spend our days caring for your pets, and to inspire our community to volunteer and adopt local shelter animals.
We are named after our founder's rescue dog, Sparky, to honor his legacy. He brought so much joy into our lives that we built our careers around animal welfare. Whether we are bundled up through a Midwest winter or out on a sunny stroll down a leafy Andersonville street, we care for these pets with the same love we gave to Sparky. Cheers bud, we miss you. ❤️

A little Andersonville history
Andersonville started as a Swedish farming village in the 1800s, back when this was the northern edge of the city and the land around Clark Street was still cherry orchard. Swedish carpenters and builders settled here in such numbers that, for a time, Chicago had more Swedes than any city outside Stockholm, and they helped build much of the city around them. That heritage is still everywhere you look, from the Swedish American Museum on Clark Street to the giant Midsommarfest street party every June.
Today Andersonville is known as the Shop Local Capital of Chicago, a district of independent cafes, bakeries, and bookstores supported by the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce. It sits in the southwest corner of Edgewater and spills into northwest Uptown, which means lovely housing stock, a true neighborhood feel, and the lake just a few blocks away. For us, it adds up to one of the most walkable, dog-loving corners of the city, and we feel lucky to log miles here every day.
