We all know the moment: the frantic pacing during a summer thunderstorm, the unsettled sigh during long hours home alone, or the nervous energy when a new face walks through the door. Pet anxiety is real, and managing it can feel overwhelming. Research suggests that calm, low-frequency music can help ease stress-related behaviors in dogs and cats, and it works wonders for humans during the workday too.

So we built something that does double duty. Lo-Fi for a Cause is a public stream of chill, pet-inspired beats from talented independent artists, some local to Chicago and some from around the world, set over Michael's point-of-view dog-walking footage. Every stream creates revenue, and that revenue goes straight back into two communities we love: rescue animals and working musicians. One beat and one walk at a time.

Where do the donations go?
The shelter portion goes to recognized Chicago-area animal shelters and funds tangible needs: emergency medical care and rehabilitation, enrichment and training that lowers kennel stress, and essentials like quality food, bedding, and vaccinations.
Is my listening a tax-deductible donation?
Listening itself is not a personal tax write-off, you are generating streaming revenue, not making a direct donation. Sparky Steps makes the charitable contribution to a recognized animal shelter from the revenue your listening helps create. You get the warm feeling; we handle the giving.
How are the artists supported?
Participating artists receive a direct share of the revenue their music helps generate, plus genuine exposure: on-screen credit, links in every video description, and shout-outs to their pages. Their beats are featured over our calming dog-walking footage.
Do I keep the rights to my music?
Yes. You keep full ownership of your tracks. The license is non-exclusive, so you are free to release, license, and sell your music anywhere else, on Spotify, in other projects, however you like. We simply get permission to feature it in our videos, always with credit to you. The full terms are laid out in a short agreement we sign together.
What kind of music are you looking for?
Chill, atmospheric, original lo-fi with smooth, steady beats and no sudden, jarring changes, the warm, calming kind of sound that suits a relaxed pet and a focused work session. Mastered tracks are ideal. If that sounds like your style, we would love to hear from you.
