We interviewed Kyla From Magnolia, DE, USA with Yogi Beai II, Yogi A.K.A. @YogiBearii & @Mylucky07 on Instagram!
TELL US ABOUT Yogi!
" Yogi is a 9 year old Shiba Inu.”
Who are you? What are you about!
“My name is Kyla Lavender and I am a 21 year old Texas A&M University student going into my senior year majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Entomology.”
Where did you meet?
" He is from a breeder in Dover, Delaware. I first met him when he was 6 weeks old and brought him home 2 weeks later!”
Tell us a story!
" I had wanted a dog my whole life. I always asked my parents for one and up until 7th grade they had said no because we traveled too much. From the moment my parents finally said I could get a dog, I knew I didn’t want an easy or basic dog. I wanted to stand out and be unique from other dog owners. Because of my Japanese heritage, I knew I wanted a Shiba. I was told from the beginning that they are one of the hardest dog breeds to train and that they are extrememly stubborn. But I was up for the challenge! Owning Yogi hasn’t always been easy, with a low point being him taking 3 laps of a horse arena at an agility trial, but it has 100% been worth it. I wouldn’t be the person and trainer I am today if it weren’t for him. It is possible to train a Shiba in agility, obedience, and a wide variey of tricks (and so much more) for that is exactly what Yogi has done! I am thankful everyday to be able to call him my best friend!”
What do you think it means to be a pet? What is a pet's purpose in this life?
“I think a pet can provide unfaltering love to a human. No matter what, they love us and appreciate all that we do for them.”
How does your pup spark joy in your life?
Yogi sparks joy in my life every single day simply by being there for me in ways humans cannot. He can do the quirkiest things but that’s what makes him so special!”
What do you think are the most pressing issues that are in the pet industry today?
" Humane Treatment of Animals”
Do you think it's more important to talk about the issues or act on them?
"Both”
Thank you for your response Yogi sounds awesome! We hope this will Spark someone to go out and make a difference in an animal’s life. We are so lucky to have doggies in our life.
