Three Reasons You Should Consider A Shelter Animal

Adopt! There are many reasons why you should consider adoption when you’re looking to welcome a pet to your family.

To reduce euthanasia

Shelters are often overlooked when people are shopping for a dog or cat, and the euthanasia numbers reflect this. Each year, approximately 1.5 shelter animals are euthanized in the U.S. because the facilities become overcrowded. By adopting pets rather than buying them from other sources, you’re freeing up room for the shelter to bring in more animals in need. Adopting a single dog or cat creates a ripple effect that can save more than one life!

There’s more of a variety

Shelters have dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages. Sure, it’s next to impossible not to adore puppies and kittens, but the amount of training and patience they require isn’t for everyone. Older dogs are often already trained and much less rambunctious than puppies. Plus, they’re just as good at showing love!

It costs way less

Money shouldn’t be the deciding factor in your decision, but why not pay less? Buying a pet can cost between $500 and $1,000+. Adoption, on the other hand, costs somewhere between $50 and $200. These are just a few of the countless reasons why adoption is the best choice when looking for a pet. Still not convinced? Go check out your local animal shelter. Hang out with the cats and dogs. We promise you’ll fall in love with (at least) one of the animals there. We want to hear about your visit! Share your experience on your favorite social media platform!
