Be Good to Your Pets and The Earth

We, at Sparky Steps, are “dog walkers with a social mission” and we believe that quadrupeds deserve the best that life can offer, just like us bipeds. This means that we do our very best to research and bring products and information to you. We’ve compiled a list of websites and local brick and mortar shops that boast a myriad of eco-friendly products that can be checked off Fluffy’s holiday wish list.

If your buddy loves soft and squishy, rubbery and bouncy, or ropes for playing tug of war, you’ll find a plethora of choices at simplyfido.com. Simply Fido promises to be “socially responsible and eco-friendly, ” so all their toys are made of organic materials. Prices range from $3.99 to $16.99. (simplyfido.com)

Honestpetproducts.com is another great choice for the eco-friendly toy. Their mission is to be “true to our pets, true to our people and true to our planet.” They have dog and cat products ranging from $10.99 to $25.99. (honestpetproducts.com) ‘Tis the season of the chattering teeth. We humans do the utmost to protect ourselves from the cold, putting on woolen socks and sweaters and winter coats and accessories to keep ourselves. Our furry friends need the same help to stave off the chill.

Ecopupdogclothing.com’s promise is that they are “made with love of organic, recycled, eco-friendly, and natural materials.” Hoodies, sweaters and coats can be purchased for $28.00 to $44.00. (ecopupdogclothing.com) And when it comes to stocking stuffers, look no further that moralmutt.com. They offer delicious treats from organic ingredients and guarantee environmental stewardship: “Preserving the environment is at our core.” Three treat bundles for $21.95 include all three of their flavors- Sweet Potato and Peanut Butter, Sweet Potato and Blueberry, and Simply Sweet Potato. You can get one bag for $7.95. If you are more of a “paws on ground” type, check out Kriser’s for high quality natural foods, treats, accessories, toys and grooming.

Check out their five stores from Lakeview to the South Loop. Or check out Bentley’s Pet Stuff, which has eight stores in Chicago and sells food that is all natural and free from by-products, corn, soy and wheat. They also sell just about anything a pet could want—especially if his human has a good job. Good luck and “Dog Speed.”
